OUR STORY
IT ALL STARTED WITH A RIGHT SWIPE
Memories of the year 2020 can be filled with feelings of confusion, loneliness and dread with many world events leading us to pause our social lives and stay home. Thankfully the modern dating world was built for times like this. After a few months of lockdown in Kansas City somehow the timing was just perfect. We both swiped right on Bumble signalling our mutual interest (Aisha had to message first) and it all took off from there. With COVID precautions in mind, we had several FaceTime dates before ever seeing each other face to face. We learned so much about each other's lives and interests and when the timing was right we decided to meet for our first date. Our socially distanced picnic on the Nelson Atkins Museum’s lawn was so perfect we spent the entire afternoon there, eventually ordering pizza to the park and watching the sunset together, not wanting the moment to end. Though the date did end, our moments together only grew.
Our shared desire for adventure and experiencing new things drew us together instantly. Over the last 6 years we have shared so many firsts. From the first out-of-state adventure to the mountains of Colorado where Sam took Aisha on our first hike to the first festival together where Aisha took Sam to our first Electric Daisy Carnival together. We moved in together in KC and only experienced more and more adventures together. We love traveling together whether that be domestically or internationally. We’ve been able to go to several states coast to coast, even western Kansas during a blizzard, and internationally to Ghana and Montreal (Sam’s favorite city).
In 2023 we took the big leap and decided to move to Chicago! Now in the big city, dependent only on each other, we grew stronger together and more in love as the days passed. Chicago opened up our world to so many more new experiences that only brought us closer.
About a year after moving, Sam had made up his mind. He couldn’t see himself with anyone other than Aisha. So he got on one knee and asked to spend the rest of their lives together. And of course it was a Yes!
